BROWNFIELDS JOB TRAINING COOPERATIVE AGREEMENTSAPPLICATION PERIOD CLOSED Description: Provides funding to eligible governmental entities and non-profit organizations to provide environmental job training projects that will promote job creation and economic development by facilitating the assessment, remediation, or preparation of brownfields sites. Description: Provides funding to assist in the recruitment and retention of professional registered nurses (RN) in approved critical shortage areas to increase access to quality health care by offering loan repayment in return for full-time service at an eligible health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses.Funding Mechanism: Competitive awards to nurses for student loan repayment. HEALTH WORKFORCE - Faculty Loan Repayment ProgramsAPPLICATION PERIOD CLOSED Description: Provides a financial incentive for degree-trained health professionals from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue academic careers in allopathic medicine, nursing (RN only), osteopathic medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, podiatric medicine, optometry, veterinary medicine, public health, allied health or graduate programs in behavioral and mental health practice for a minimum of 2 years.Funding Mechanism: Direct awards to eligible health professions faculty from disadvantaged backgrounds for the repayment of student loans. The program provides as much as $20,000 a year to eligible faculty members who apply to and are selected to receive funding from the program in return for a 2-year service commitment. RECOVERY ZONE BONDS - Economic Development BondsDescription: Provides taxable Governmental Bonds that municipalities can use to spur development in areas with significant poverty, unemployment or home foreclosures. REHABILITATION SERVICES - Vocational Rehabilitation Grants to StatesDescription: Provides additional grant funds to states to support the existing Vocational Rehabilitation State Grant Program which provides services to individuals with disabilities to prepare for and engage in gainful employment. The additional federal funds will be used to assist individuals who have a physical or mental impairment that results in a substantial impediment to employment, who can benefit from vocational rehabilitation services for employment.Funding Mechanism: Funds are distributed to states and territories based on a formula that takes into account population and per capita income to cover the cost of direct services and program administration.
